Mayfair Church is a group of people who are learning more about God and what it means to be people who love him. We are people who want to belong to something larger than ourselves. We are people who want to make a difference in our neighborhoods and the world. We are people who have been going to church all our lives and people who are walking into a church building for the first time ever.
Wherever we come from and whatever we do, we learn from each other’s experiences and welcome one another as we travel together through life. Mayfair Church was founded more than 120 years ago in the reformed tradition of Christianity. Today, we’re still working to serve God and others here in the Fulton Heights neighborhood, the city of Grand Rapids, and beyond.
We are united as one through the Holy Spirit. As a church, we are committed to doing life together - when we grow in community, we grow in faith.
We are centered in Jesus Christ. Everything we do is based on our faith in Jesus Christ - not just our worship services on Sunday morning!
Our legacy of faith began in 1893. The Gospel story of the love of God is as relevant today as it was then.
We are reaching out to the world and creating pathways to community. We are committed, as followers of Jesus Christ, to living for the sake of others and to making a difference.
Our mission is to live for the glory of God and for the sake of others by following God’s way, growing God’s community and serving in God’s world (Luke 10:27).
Our vision is to be a growing community of believers in Grand Rapids who challenge and encourage each other to deepen our relationship with God and live as passionate followers of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).
Rev. Elaine May
Pastor Elaine May has lived in Ontario, Michigan, California, Tennessee and New Hampshire. Elaine and her husband, Greg have four children and a golden retriever. Elaine brings a broad perspective of the Body of Christ and a desire to empower the Body to live out our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ. You will often find Pastor Elaine with her husband Greg on the side lines of a soccer, basketball, or volleyball game cheering for her kids and encouraging their teams. She’s just a ‘little bit’ competitive.
